Human Japanese
Earlier in another post, I recommended a rather inexpensive program to learn Japanese. The program is called Human Japanese and it is worth every penny.Hiragana by inlovewithjapan / © Some rights reserved. Licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution license |
I can assure you that it is better than Rosetta Stone or Pimsleur simply because you get to understand Japanese. In other programs, you learn how to form sentences by pieces but you don't learn how to form your very own sentences. If you read my guide on how to learn japanese and you are looking now for a way to improve your japanese and take it to the next level, then I recommend you Human Japanese.
For mac : Beginner and Intermediate
They also have versions for iphone, ipad, windows phone and android.
There is also a demo version available for intermediate (only for mac)
The beginner program features 40 chapters each chapter about 20 pages long. The text is easy to read and well supported by examples and images. It teaches you hiragana, katakana, particle use, sentence structure, vocabulary etc. Overall, the lessons are easy to understand and you get some interactive quizzes that help you test your knowledge.
The intermediate program features 42 chapters all about 25 pages long. It builds on the fundamentals teached in the beginner program. It teaches you kanjis, regular and irregular verbs, more advanced particle use, advanced sentence structure, vocabulary etc. The quizzes are build so that they earn points. The more points you get the higher your rank.
I would recommend this program to anyone, mainly because it goes beyond teaching you how to build a sentence. It explains to you why the sentence is structured as it is using similarities in english and daily life. You will be able to build sentence and feel much more comfortable doing so because you know how to build sentences not just one sentence.
