Tonari no kaibutsu kun
Mizutani Shizuku is a High School student that cares only for her grades since she was in Elementary school. One day she had to deliver homework to one of her classmates called Yoshida Haru. He is missed most of the lessons in school because he was a troublemaker. One teacher asks Shizuku to make him come back to school and Haru mistakes it as a friendship request. He even gets to the point of confessing to Shizuku. The story become more interesting as romance, friendship and drama is introduced together with daily school life activities.
Nichijou
This anime will blow your mind. It goes beyond normal school-life where the School principal fights with a deer, a student rides with a goat to school, one of the girls is a hardcore fujoshi and the students experience the hardship of tests. By the time you reach episode two, not even a speaking cat will surprise you anymore.
K-ON!
The story is about four High School Girls that join the light music club of their school to prevent it from dissolving. From then on, Yui (guitarist), Mio Akiyama (bassist), Ritsu Tainaka (drummer), and Tsumugi Kotobuki (keyboardist) create a band and spend their school life practicing and playing around. The story convinces with a very clean humour and the cuteness of all the four members.
Hyouka
This is probably one of my favorite Anime. It is about Houtaro Oreki who is an energy saving High School Boy (faul) and his three friends he meets after joining the Classic Literature Club. At the beginning, Houtaro Oreki joins the club at petition from his older sister and becomes the only member. Soon a nice girl called "Chitanda Eru" joins the club. Her curious personality and her desire for solving mysteries traps Houtaro in all types of mysteries. Over time, Fukube Satoshi, and Ibara Mayaka join the club as well. Together they try to solve a 45 year old School mystery. The story is very well written with a beautiful music and hints of Romance.
Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou
Tadakuni, Hidenori, and Yoshitake are middle school students in an all boys High School. This is a full epic, comic and dramatic high school life without love stories and romance.
Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai
Hasegawa Kodaka is a normal High School student but due to his blond hair (uncommon in Japan) he is seen as a delinquent. One day, Kodaka sees how a girl called "Yozaka" talks to her imaginary friend "Tomo". Both realize that they don't have friends so they decide to create "The Neighbours' Club" and recruit members. Soon new members join the club. Together they try to find out how to make friends but don't notice that they are already friends. The story is very humoristic with hints of ecchi scenes.
Hayate The Combat Butler
The story revolves around Hayate Ayasaki and Nagi Sanzenin. Hayate is an unlucky teenager who works since he was a child to pay the debt of his parents. One day on Christmas Eve, he finds out that his parent got a new gambling debt of ¥156,804,000 ($1.3 Million) and that the Yakuza want to sell his organs to get the money. As he runs away, he meets a girl called Nagi Sanzenin. She is a young girl who is the successor of the Sanzenin estate. Due to various misunderstandings she falls in love with Hayate and makes him her butler that accompanies her to school and attends her at home.
Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu
The story is about schools grades. The school divides the classes into different categories. The "A" students get the best furnisher and food while the "F" students get the worst stuff. Akihisa Yoshii is a "baka" (idiot) who is in the "F" class. Together with his friends and Mizuki Himeji, an "A" student that missed a test, they battle against other classes in Virtual School exams where they summon virtual creatures to fight. The winner of these battles gets one rank up while the loser goes one rank down.
Toradora
The story is about Ryuji Takasu and Taiga Aisaka. Both love someone but don't know how to convey their feelings. Since they sit in the same boat, Ryuji agrees to help Taiga and Taiga agrees to help Ryuji. As the story progress both face many problems and things get very twisted at school and with their friends.
Gekkan Shoujo to Nozaki-kun
Chiyo Sakura is a High School student and has a crush on her schoolmate Umetarou Nozaki. She decides to confess to him but he mistakes her for a fan and gives her an autograph because he is a mangaka (manga creator). A few things happen and she becomes his assistant. She enjoys her days in school seeing Nozaki and Nozaki takes his school life experience as a research material for his manga. Both meet new classmates and enjoy everyday school life.
